California Pizza Kitchen Makes a Yummy Debut in Dilli!

By

For all those looking for a Perfect New Year Weekend Brunch, California Pizza Kitchen is “the” place to be. After serving Foodoholics in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, CPK has launched its outlet with the help of the brand’s master franchisee JSM Corporation in Gurgaon, DLF Cyber Hub. Team Guiltybytes was invited for the inauguratory lunch. The super lunch was presided over by the Global Brand Ambassador for Franchise Operations of the International chain, Chef Justin Parras.

CPK stands by its Tagline “it all begins with imagination and ends with unforgettable flavours’ and so to say that the menu at CPK is long would be an understatement! Smoothies, Coolers and Mocktails to Salads, Pastas, Sandwiches and three pages of Hearth baked Pizza options which leave you a little spoilt for choice.

We started our lunch with beautiful looking mocktails called the Hawaiian Sunshine which had Pineapple, Passion fruit, Grenadine and lime juice, Cranberry Mist which was a mix of Cranberry, Lime juice and soda.

CPK offers a variety of salads of which my favorite is Thai Crunch Salad. The first bite of the salad was not only mesmerizing but it took me took a different world all together, no wonder it is the most popular and the most ordered dish of CPK world over. The Salad has Crisp veggies and cilantro with chicken and the crunch of peanuts, wontons and rice sticks which is tossed in Thai peanut dressing.

Another Salad which that we had was Veg Moroccon Spice Salad; the different colours in the salad were indeed a treat to the eyes.  It is one of a kind, with roasted sweet potatoes, dates, toasted almonds, beets, red peppers and cranberries, tossed with moroccon vinaigrette.

Among the starters we had Black Bean Quesadilla a concoction of black bean sauce, cheddar, onion and Serrano pepper sandwiched between grilled bread, Tuscan Hummus with Pita bread but what we would really recommend are the Lettuce Wraps which have Chicken, Paneer and Shrimps as its options. They are make-your-own-wraps, so you can stuff as much or as little you want! It has Fresh Shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts and scallions tossed in spicy ginger soy sauce

The real treat was when main course arrived. We love thin crust pizzas, The thinner, the better! CPK’s hearth baked pizza is so thin and crisp, there’s an actual crunch to certain parts. And we love the flavours of the toppings. CPK had a lavish display of Pizzas like Crispy Thin crust Chicken Fajita Pizza, which was a 9- inch base with a pesto-cilantro sauce, soy-lime marinated onions, peppers, green onion, cheese and shredded chicken served alongside a spicy, sour cream and guacamole. We also had  Tostada, a Pizza which Chef Justin Parras called Hot and Cold pizza served with Salsa sauce, next was a Multigrain Sundried Tomato pizza with black beans, along with CPK Veggie Pizza- Veg pizza made of broccoli, roasted corn, sliced red onions, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and tomato sauce . But what Guiltybytes would really recommend is the Chicken Pizza which combines barbeque sauce, gouda and mozzarella cheeses, chicken and is garnished with tomatoes and cilantro.

From pizzas we moved on to Pastas we decided to have a Sundried Tomato Pasta with grilled Chicken, then we had Garlic Cream Fettuccine  and Tomato Basil Spaghettini. The pastas were okay we loved the pizzas better.

We also had their special Masterchef dish 5 Spice Lemon Garlic baked Basa fish with Corn Succotash which was superb.

After tasting all these wonderful new menu items we were stuffed with flavor!! If the pizzas were great their desserts are even better! We had White Chocolate and Strawberry cheesecake, Tiramisu and Red Velvet cake. Hands down Guiltybytes recommends Tiramisu. Italian for “lift me up," this dessert will lift your spirits with sweet Italian Cream cheese and Marsala Custard between layers of Espresso and Rum-soaked lady fingers. It was heavenly, a winner all the way!!!
