Karan Johar Talks About His Comments On Kangana Ranaut And Nepotism At IIFA!

By

IIFA became the hot topic for social media because of his 'nepotism' remarks. Yesterday, Varun took to Twitter and apologized for his remark. Varun, Saif and Karan Johar get slammed on their social media. After Varun and Saif, Karan has come out apologetic on the whole issue. Talking to NDTV, Karan said, “Of course I do not believe that ‘nepotism rocks’. Of course, I believe that only talent rocks. If anything that rocks, it’s your talent, hard work and conviction. It’s the energy you bring to the job you do. What we said was meant to be a joke, that I think has been misplaced, misunderstood and I think it went wrong. I regret it.”

He also added,"The idea of that joke was entirely mine, so I take total onus of the idea of what we said. And I think we went a bit too far with the Kangana mention. Now I have to say, no matter what I feel about my issues with what Kangana said on my talk show Koffee With Karan, I felt that I was raised to be a dignified, a chivalrous, and a decent person. That’s the upbringing that I was given and I feel that I failed on those accounts. I felt that no matter what my thoughts or personal issues on this, I should not have repeatedly brought up this issue. For that, I’m deeply regretful.”

He further added,“I know that there has been lot of interaction and lot of communication online about this. It’s deeply disturbing because, I really felt It was something that we said in humour, it may be terrible humour, bad humour, misplaced humour, but our intention was never to hurt anyone, not to offend anyone, it was to make a joke on ourselves, that failed. That very core idea is what failed. Then I went away and got carried away in the moment and I regret that,” he concluded. I want to once and for all say and close this chapter that after this and  subsequently I will not speak about nepotism, I will not mention Kangana because it would be disrespectful to her and it would be ungraceful at my end, which I’ve already been. So I don’t want to further this anymore. And I want to say to whoever got offended out there that I deeply regret those words and I will not repeat these actions again. It’s not my core to do so, it’s not who I was raised to. I am immensely respectful man not only of women, of anyone profession and everyone, of senior members of my industry. It’s who I was raised to be and let myself and I my parents down, which I said I am deeply regretful. Yes, about Nepotism, yes it is easy access, and who can deny that, but what you do with that access is what moulds you as a professional.”
