What To Wear To A Mehendi Function For Brides & Wedding Guests

By

Nothing makes me more excited than the thought of a beautiful day wedding function with bursts of colours, hues of pinks and yellows and beautiful floral decor. "Mehendi" has and will always be my most favourite function for it gives a bride and her guests a lot of opportunities to adorn colours, styles and yet look fabulous as heck! While looking for my own wedding "Mehendi" outfit, I found Dheeru & Nikita (remember I did my cocktail gown trail as well with them?) and decided to do a day function outfit in all yellow that I absolutely loved from their collection!

When it comes to Mehendi ceremony, I know a lot of brides end up taking a backseat. No matter how simple or lavish the mehendi ceremony is, just remember that it is a very special occasion for you and yes, it will also be captured in your photos (hence another reason why you need to dress well). Here are some tips that will help you dress up for you mehendi.

#1 Go in for for bright pop of colours. Nothing looks more flattering on a woman than colours that too during day time. It's bright and sunny and hence you can dress up in hues of yellows, pinks, blues, greens in all shades. I picked up this beautiful, bright yellow lehenga from Dheeru & Nitika's collection that comes with a stylish blouse and a dupatta that has intricate embroidery on it.

#2 Ditch heavy work on the lehenga/suit, and opt for a statement dupatta. A dupatta in a neutral shade is an evergreen piece that will go well with just about any outfit. A bright, solid coloured lehenga looks classic when paired with a dupatta that has beautiful work on it. I am sporting a hand embroidered net dupatta that Dheeru & Nitika have made. They really do think that the contrasting colours create a balance and that's why all their outfit make for a stunning ensemble, perfect for all occassions.

#3 Say yes to statement accessories. Go big and go all out with statement jewels or floral jewels with your Mehendi outfit. The jewels add to your glamour and will ensure that you look like a bride among all friends and family members. When it comes to styling, jewels just make sure that you have your own diva moment.

#4 Opt for embroidery, design and on trend fabrics. If you take a closer look at the yellow Dheeru & Nitika lehenga then you'll notice the super stylish blouse design that I have worn. It has such beautiful details that also features an unconventional shape and almost sheer looking full sleeves. The dupatta is and will be a hero with hand embroidery taking a front seat. Also, opt for fabrics that have strength and fluidity to make you look flattering at al times. Taffeta or silk with can-can can be preferred as an option.

#5 Devil lies in the details. Incase you are not wearing a heavy embroidered lehenga skirt then take some inspiration from the Dheeru & Nitika lehenga that features STUNNING latkans and skirt accessories. Oh and yes, do remember that makeup matters. You can opt for a bright lips or light smokey eyes for the day to complete your look to the perfection.

Dheeru & Nitika's designer outfits price range starts from 3000 INR for western garments and goes up to 1.5 lacs for couture ensembles. You can find theme here.
